To my great surprise, I recently discovered an old journal. This journal has been lost for many years, and I was delighted to discover that it was written by the second president of the United States, John Adams. In addition to his other journals, Adams used this little book to record the most important events in his life. I have “translated” this journal from 18th century English into present-day English for ease of reading. However, some passages are direct quotes from Adams himself.

For organizational purposes, I have placed the journal entries into chronological order. Please click on the above tabs to learn a little more about John Adams and his fascinating life!

Sincerely yours,

Michaiah Hughes
